Frequently Asked Questions

COMPANY INFORMATION & ANY QUESTION ABOUT US.

At Advent Prestige Care we like to take the first counseling session to talk to you and get to know more about what brought you in. We will ask you questions about your background and history and then save a few minutes at the end of the session to answer any questions you may have.

The length of time therapy takes varies for each client and is influenced by the presenting problem as well as the goals of the counseling process. At Advent Prestige Care, we prefer to see clients on a weekly basis for the first few sessions to develop an accurate understanding of who you are and your developmental history as well as understand your needs and formulate a specific treatment plan. Once we feel that progress has been made or your symptoms have improved, we can reduce frequency of treatment to biweekly, monthly, or as needed.

According to the American Counseling Association, it is not ethical for a therapist to see a client for both individual and couples therapy at the same time due to potential breaches of confidentiality or issues of loyalty. Therefore, when beginning treatment at Advent Prestige Care, it is recommended that you choose between individual or couples therapy. If you are interested in couple’s therapy and your partner is also willing to attend, at Advent Prestige Care, often encourage couples to come in together for the first session. This will allow each partner to have an opportunity to share their perspective and decide if couples therapy is a good fit for them. We will also be able to assess the role of each partner in the relationship dynamic, clarify goals, and then we may address relationship concerns in individual therapy, if you choose to do so.

Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhanced coping strategies that are different from talking to a friend or family member. They can provide a non-biased, educated perspective on a difficult problem you may have or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how much you put into the process and practice what you learn. Some of the benefits of therapy include:

• Attaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and values

• Developing skills for improving your relationships

• Finding resolution to the issues or concerns that led you to seek therapy

• Learning new ways to cope with stress and anxiety

• Managing anger, grief, depression, and other emotional pressures

• Improving communications and listening skills

• Changing old behavior patterns and developing new ones

• Discovering new ways to solve problems with your family, partner, or work

• Improving your self-esteem and boosting your self-confidence.

Please contact us if you have more questions or would like to schedule an intake appointment.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE NOTICE

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 – effective January 1, 2022), you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
  • You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
  • If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your GFE, you may dispute or appeal the bill.
    • You may contact the health care provider or facility listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than the GFE.
    • You may ask them to update the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the bill, or ask if financial assistance is available.
    • You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days (about four months) of the date on the original bill.
    • There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will have to pay the price on this GFE. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the health care provider or facility, you will have to pay the higher amount.

Note: A Good Faith Estimate is for your awareness only and does not require immediate financial commitment or payment.

To learn more, go to www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.  For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059. Yes! At Advent Prestige Care, we provide both couples and individual counseling.

Yes, you may choose to pursue individual therapy for couples concerns or opt to bring your partner into session with you later on. We have had success in working with clients who wish to address relationship issues in individual therapy as well as self-esteem, anxiety, and depression as it impacts their current relationship.

At times, the other member of the couple may want to attend a session or see me to process thoughts and feelings on their own. It is important to understand how including your partner in therapy may impact your privacy and we will outline the policy on confidentiality and third-party disclosure of information during the first session.
